Jeff Bark Lucifer Falls at Hasted Hunt Kraeutler

Pictures of elegant waterfalls against mysterious back rocks with lone nude figures draped in sensuous cloths. These are the kinds of things that excite the broad taste of undergrad art students, minds who understand art photography as dramatic and self aware like the work of Francesca Woodman, Andres Serrano, Joel-Peter Witkin or as the reproducing of their interests as turned out by the numerous and nameless fashion, sports and documentary photographers in magazines. Galleries should and can do better than pander to the broadest of tastes, but expecting a gallery to forgo profit for the sake of artistic integrity is unfortunately a naive and idealistic notion.

Hasted Hunt Kraeutler (537 W 24th St. Btw. 10th & 11th Aves.) through Oct. 16th
