Man, if the power shift away from Chelsea hasn’t been clear
yet, Joe Sheftel’s summer group show has Lewis Baltz and Sherrie Levine in it.
Now, not the best Sherry Levine, a bunch of her reappropriations of paintings
including Krazy Kat, and I am not entirely sure what is achieved by appropriating
the authorship of someone that few actually know, the author of achieves, but
whatcha gonna do? And I like Lewis Baltz, but who doesn’t see him as Robert
Adams’s less interesting little brother? But still, some museum types appearing
in a Lower East Side group show does seem to be part of a sea change.
