George Platt Lynes @ Steven Kasher Gallery

Ugh, formal celebrity portraiture and soft-core male figure studies. It is work like this that makes the outright desire of Mapplethorpe pictures so necessary. Kasher had such a nice moment with its excellent Weegee show. Now back to moving product. I just fear that with the new ground floor location, we’re going to be getting fewer collections of mug shots or other oddball collections of vernacular photographs. And more crowd-pleasing drivel like Lynes.
