Maybe walking through a storm of great Weegee pictures
doesn’t do Maier justice, but I am not nearly as excited about her as everyone
seems to be. The work in the show is by no means bad, but for black and white
street work it doesn’t rise to the level of the many more famous practitioners.
Which is fine and the show is better than most things, but after seeing it I
feel no need to go out and invest in the new monography.
