Bill Jacobson, Into the Loving Nowhere (1989 till now) @ Julie Saul Gallery

The only thing that went through my mind while looking at Jacobson’s out-of-focus pictures is that, galleries aren’t making postcards anymore. Remember back in 2008 when every show came with a fold-out poster or an 8x8in postcard on 12-point card stock? Is this the canary in the coal mine for Chelsea’s inevitable conversion into the Meat Packing District North? Those boutiques and restaurants are just going to spread north along the high line like E. coli on a cutting board until even Gagosian can’t afford their rent.

Through Dec. 10th
Julie Saul Gallery (535 W 22nd St. 6th Fl. Btw. 10th & 11th Aves)

Bill Jacobson is one of my favorite artists. Work speaks of fading memory, passage of time. It's poetic, profound and beautiful.

I don't know to each there own but out of focus = fading memory seems like a pretty simple visual analogy to me.
