Kristine Potter, The Gray Line @ Daniel Cooney Fine Art

There is an underlining sexual charge in Potter’s excellent black and white portraits of male cadets at West Point. Each is dressed in a masculine uniform. Whether in casual camouflage or more formal dress attire, the cadets are caught delicately lying or wandering in wooded areas looking at the camera, as if waiting for a rendezvous with the viewer, for a secret tryst right out of a Jane Austin novel. If there were ever a female gaze, this would be it.

Through Dec. 23rd
Daniel Clooney Fine Art (511 W 25th St. Suite 506, Btw. 10th & 11th Ave.)
